You can sail but you haven't much experience as a Skipper. In your first few days with us you improve your skills and knowledge and perfect your command skills. Now you are ready to join a Flotilla and take your crew to the islands

Come and visit us in the quietest and most beautiful corner of Phuket Island. We'll teach you to sail and then take you on your first Flotilla sailing holiday. Our 6 day flotilla holidays consists of 3 days 'learning the ropes' and 3 days exploring local islands. By the time you set off on your adventure you'll already know enough to sail the yacht yourself so you really will feel the adventure. Of course we'll be there to look after you and help whenever needed. But you will be sailing yourself around the local Islands.

Stopping in the evening at beautiful Thai Islands and enjoying the relaxed hospitality offered ashore as the day cools to a perfect balmy evening. Sip cocktails, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and talk over the highlights of the day with the other sailors. Get a good night sleep in air conditioned rooms with a graeat shower or swim in the morning before breakfast and then the days sailing briefing.

Sailing all the way

A practical sailing course with little theory and lots of time on the water. When you go on Sail In Asia's new keelboat holiday course you'll be entering a new world. Do these yachts behave like dinghies or dinghies that sail like yachts? Well ... the answer is "yes they are", both descriptions are true depending on your perspective.  With a keelboat like the Platu 25 you get the best of both worlds. You stay dry and you dont have to be an Olympic athlete to control the boats but they do give you a thrill and you learn to handle a lively yacht. The yachts can take from 4-6 people and 5 is ideal. Everyone has a job. Theres plenty of room for your dry bags below when you are sailing from place to place.

The course is three days but its almost all practical. The skippers learn a bit of basic navigation and some fundamental rules of the road. Everything else is learned on the yachts in the first three days. Your time on the water is jam packed with action. Learn to sail, to reef, to motor sail and to anchor. There's a support boat in attendance at all times. You follow the leader. They will look after you!  Interested well come and talk to us or email us. Stop dreaming about it and getting on with booking your Sail In Asia, Flotilla Holiday Course!

"There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it."

Ratty in Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

What is a Keelboat?

A keelboat is a day sailing boat with no accommodation with a permanent keel. That's the keel sticking down into the water.  It has two main uses.

  1. It reduces how much the boat is pushed sideways by the wind.
  2. Being heavy it helps to keep the boat upright.

Keel boats a stable, not like a dinghy, more like a yacht. The Platu is a fast, fun keel boat. In windy weather you will certainly get wet!! We have 6 of these yachts now so they are ideal for group trips and competitive or fun racing.
