The Yachtmaster Fast Track course is designed for those in a big hurry to get qualified as an IYT Coastal Yachtmaster.

The Yachtmaster Fast Track

Even if you have very little practical experience we can take most people all the way to being a skipper on coastal passages in around 4 months. Of course no-one can guarantee that you have what it takes to skipper a yacht in all weather conditions - but if you have it, we'll identify it and we'll get to the level needed to pass both practical and theory exams.

Starting at the very beginning the yachtmaster fast track course teaches you how to sail, how to crew, how to navigate, how to be safe; indeed all you will need to know to be a skipper. The course also provides the opportunity to build the experience you need to take that knowledge and build your skills to the required level.

We always start ‘at the beginning’ as it ensures that there are no gaps and you end up with all the knowledge you need. We have had requests to start in ‘the middle’ but experience has taught us that this not the best approach.

Our Farr 1104 yachts are ideal for the yachtmaster fast track course. Fast and fun to sail, but not too complex. They will test your boat handling skills in a stiff breeze as well. The handle well under power and sail, just what you need to perfect though skills that the examiner will be looking for, like man-overboard and tight tacking.

The course is structured in two distinct phases. In phase one you get a lot of training and the chance to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have gained. This then allows us the opportunity to give you a thorough assessment and determine whether you will reach the grade for Yachtmaster Coastal.

You will also get STCW basic safety training on this course. This course, essential for professional mariners, is of great benefit to vocational sailors as well. Let’s face who would not want to know how to launch a life raft or deal with an on-board fire if their life depended on it - - and it may do!
