ISSA Offshore Skipper

If you have completed your ISSA Inshore Skipper or RYA Day Coastal Skipper and have 800 miles of experience then you are ready to become an ISSA Offshore Skipper. This course is a theory and practical course and enables you to do night sailing and make longer distance passages, day and night.

It’s a 10 day course, when you have completed the Zero to Hero Foundation Course with Sail in Asia. It’s 14 days if you have not done the Zero to Hero foundation course with Yacht Training in Asia (SIA).  If you have taken an IYT Bareboat Skipper course or a n RYA Day Skipper Course with another school, or completed the course in the past, we strongly recommend you take the 14 day course.

Master of Yachts

Master of Yachts aspiring skippers should have another 2000 nm of experience in addition to the 800 NM for entry to the ISSA Offshore Skipper. Our ISSA MOY is a 10 day course for students who have the requisite experience and skills and who have already completed an ISSA Offshore Skipper. We always ask you to do a one day assessment day with us before we accept you on a MOY course.  It’s a tough course so we highly recommend you do a MOY Assessment before you enroll and  pay for the full course.  Offshore Skipper is essentially the same syllabus for the Master of Yachts Certification but the examiner expects you to be a very proficient manager, sailor, navigator and to some extent, teacher. Students on this course may be also doing ISSA Offshore Skipper and it’s important that the prospective MOY’s are interacting positively with them and bringing out the best in them, too.

Recreational Foundation Courses for Beginners or Experts

If you are a beginner to sailing the ISSA Learn to Sail Course  or  ISSA Yacht Crew Course are ideal for you and if you want to rent yachts all over the world, you need to complete the Zero to Hero Course  a 12-14 day Fast Track Skipper’s course. This course has all the key training requirements to make it ICC compliant and most importantly, it enables companies that rent yachts, the ability to check that you have been properly trained.

The Zero To Hero Course

The Zero to Hero course is a 14 day fast track course that also includes, Yacht Crew, VHF radio and Inshore Skipper (Part1&2) This course is 40% longer than most comparable courses so you get more time on the water and become a better skipper.

The Zero to Hero 'Classic', is our most popular course it is run twice, a month, in Phuket on 1-14th or 16-29th.  It is the Foundation Course for the ISSA Offshore Skipper.

We provide you with the necessary theoretical and practical training to run a yacht in fair weather, daylight conditions, in local waters. The course cost is only 81000THB - 71000THB depending on booking discounts.

Learn to Sail in Thailand using this interesting and diverse fleet. Sail in Asia’s Yacht Training School has more than 12 vessels available to students to enjoy and train on. The yachts are used for regattas, international schools outdoor education and for corporate events. The yacht training fleet is the largest fleet of yachts of any school, in Asia. The fleet includes 7 Platus, a Corsair Trimaran, two Farr 1104s and a J35 One Design cruiser racer. The boats are conveniently anchored a hundred meters off our tropical beach location.
